Devilled Mushrooms

Beautiful huge chestnut mushrooms in a family-sized economy pack from Aldi UK

So…..what to do with them?

A new lunch for my MAD Fast Day! (Modified Alternate Day Fasting)

Just 177 calories

Ingredients

mushrooms 200g:  44 calories

butter 15g: 108 calories

Worcester sauce 15mls: 15 calories

grainy mustard 5g: 10 cals

dash of hot chilli sauce

about 100mls water

seasoning to taste

Method

Slice the mushro0ms

Melt the butter (I use a ceramic frying pan)

Toss the sliced mushrooms in the melted butter and fry for a few minutes

Add the rest of the ingredients and simmer till the mushrooms are cooked through and the liquid reduced to a syrup

Serve on a buckwheat pancake or toast and top with a poached or fried egg

To serve

1 large egg poached or fried without fat

1 buckwheat pancake

or

1 slice wholewheat or gluten free toast
